Ulverston is South Lakeland's friendliest Market Town, Cumbria's Festival Town and the start of the Cumbria Way long distance walk to Carlisle.

Ulverston is only 10 miles from the shores of Windermere and is perfect for touring the Lake District National Park West Cumbria and of course the Furness Peninsula.
Ulverston is also the birthplace of comedian Stan Laurel. A statue of Stan and Ollie created by sculptor Graham Ibbeson who created the Eric Morecambe statue,.
The statue was officialy unveiled on Sunday 19 April 2009 by Ken Dodd.

Ulverston is a delightful town, with its unique charm, friendly and quirky independant specialist shops, olde worlde pubs, wide selection of cafes, restaurants and accommodation, fascinating ginnels and cobbled streets that hold many surprises. The town also has banks and building societies, a large post office and plenty of other services.
Don't want to drive - why not take the train around the glorious Cumbria Coast line to Ulverston station, a short walk from the town centre.
The street market operates every Thursday, with a smaller market on Saturday. The Indoor Market Hall is open five days per week. A food fair operates on the third Saturday of every month run by Made in Cumbria. There are 5 car parks all within the town centre area. For visitors with a disability a Shopmobility scooter can be hired from the Tourist Information Centre.
